MSc – Geography (University of Ottawa)
H.BA – Environmental Studies (University of Ottawa)
Caitlin is a Physical Geographer whose research experiences have focused on permafrost and ground ice conditions in high latitude regions. Her MSc thesis employed field, laboratory, image processing and spatial analysis techniques to analyze permafrost cores taken in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica. This work highlighted a unique record of ground ice conditions and cryostratigraphy in Antarctica and the first discussion of a sublimation unconformity.
Prior to joining the Labrador Institute, Caitlin worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Ottawa where she helped investigate permafrost and environmental change in the Northwest Territories and Antarctica using various field, laboratory and remote sensing techniques. Caitlin has also worked as a Field Researcher at the University of Ottawa where she participated in the installation and maintenance of an environmental monitoring network across Labrador, and employed permafrost geophysics techniques in the Torngat Mountains National Park and various locations throughout Labrador.
Caitlin enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with her friends and family, soccer, fitness classes, crafting, the Ottawa Senators and exploring the North.
