Enamul Hossain is Associate Professor and Statoil Chair in Reservoir Engineering in the Department of Process Engineering (Oil & Gas Program) at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Memorial), Canada. Dr. Hossain is an innovative leader in petroleum engineering education and research. He serves the engineering profession with dedication and commitment to excellence in teaching and research. He was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh and received his PhD in petroleum engineering from the Dalhousie University in 2008. He also earned MBA degree in 2009 from the same university. Dr. Hossain and his wife, Nasra have four children.
Dr. Hossain received several awards including distinguished A+ faculty. He is the associate editor of Journal of Nature Science and Sustainable Technology (JNSST), and Journal of Characterization and Development of Novel Materials (JCDNM), Nova Science Publishers, USA. He also acts as a reviewer for several international journals including Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) journals. He has been an active member of a number of international societies, including the SPE. Dr. Hossain is the founder and Chairman of Aziza Trust (www.azizatrust.com) and was on the Board of directors of Aziza group in Bangladesh, Bright Coral in Canada.
Dr. Hossain authored and/or co-authored more than 100 research articles focusing on reservoir modeling, reservoir simulation, reservoir characterization, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), drilling fluid, and drilling waste management. Dr. Hossain has 6 patents, and wrote three books on Sustainable Petroleum Operations, a textbook on Fundamentals of Sustainable Drilling Engineering. Three additional books are in progress: two books will cover drilling issues and solutions, and one book will focus on reservoir simulation.
Dr. Hossain has made significant contributions to petroleum engineering in the fields of reservoir modeling, EOR, drilling and drilling waste management. He led an international reservoir modeling group, involving 5 collaborating institutions, 4 countries and 2 industrial partners. Dr Hossain’s main contribution to the industry is the introduction for the first time of memory concept for a petroleum application. Dr. Hossain has currently funding of approximately two million dollars received from Statoil, NSERC, RDC, and Memorial. In the last six years, he completed over seven million Saudi riyal projects funded by Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, and KFUPM in diverse area of petroleum engineering.http://enamulhossain.com/
