This is a photo of a billboard stating

I am interested in our colonial past and how it is written on the land through naming, mapping and various kinds of storytelling; in walking on the land - in solidarity, resistance, pilgrimage and exploration - and what we can learn along the way; and in the kinds of translations and collaborations involved in this kind of work. You can go to this link to listen to an Ideas Show I made for CBC Radio several years ago about these different kinds of walking. I took the photo above in Goose Bay, Labrador - as I usually call it - around the time of the Innu protests against NATO weapons testing and low level flying over Nitassinan - as they have always called it. The warning, in four languages, seems to represent, or provoke, several of my current research questions.
