Education PhD student profiled in series of success stories

Julia Halfyard, musical performer, teacher and PhD student in the Faculty of Education, is profiled in a series of online videos by Fortis Inc. highlighting homegrown success stories in Newfoundland and Labrador. Ms. Halfyard, who works with Student Life at Memorial, has performed across Canada, including in the 2015 world premiere of the musical, “The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz” in Montreal. She is also a member of the world-renowned Lady Cove Women’s Choir and leader of the Festival 500: Growing the Voices Instant Choir. Her story can be found here.

Known as Tap Your Potential, the Fortis series is intended to inspire others to achieve great things. It includes success stories from all walks of life, including Dr. Andrew Furey, orthopedic surgeon and Team Broken Earth founder; Caroline Nochasak, researcher, artist and leader of Songujovugut, an adult theatre troupe in Nain; Zita Cobb, innkeeper of the Fogo Island Inn and co-founder and chief executive officer of Shorefast Foundation; and Lisa Brown, chief executive officer of Stella’s Circle.
