Don't stay silent - message from Dr. Kirk Anderson
Faculty of Education
Feb 2nd, 2017
Hate has no place in our hearts, yet some hearts and minds are corrupted by it. All members of our community share and acknowledge the anguish and grief felt by the Muslim community here in the province and across the country.
I know that all of us will most certainly reach out to anyone feeling threatened, especially our Muslim students and colleagues in the Faculty of Education.
Don't be silent, reach out to each other to show love and support as members of our Muslim community in particular deal with the tragic attack at the Quebec mosque.
For those thinking about a more public response I suggest joining the tomorrow's (Friday) special events in support of our Muslim families, friends, colleagues and neighbours at the Masjid-an-Noor Mosque on Logy Bay Road in St. John's, and here on campus at St. John's College Chapel.
For more information on the community initiative happening at 12:30 pm at the Masjid-an-Noor Mosque please go to https://www.facebook.com/events/418719868470798
Here on the St. John's Campus the Protect our Community at Prayer event takes place at 1 pm.
Let's send a strong message to those who hate. Let's replace hate with love!
