You've heard about pop-up cafes, and pop-up concerts. They're popping up everywhere these days.

Well now it's time to roll up your sleeves a little and give art a chance as the Faculty of Education presents a pop-up art hive next Wednesday, March 1. (This event was rescheduled after two-days of wicked winter weather forced the campus to close down.)

The art hive pops up in the main foyer of the Education Building (Hickman Building) at 10:30 am and runs until 4:30 pm.

"We're inviting the university community to take a little time to relax and try some art as a way to help take away their stress," said Abena Boachie, a PhD student specializing in art education, who's organizing the art hive in her position as a graduate assistant with Drs Heather McLeod and Leah Lewis. "We want everyone to try out some art and do something they didn't think they could do.

"Pablo Picasso once said 'Every child is an artist but the problem is to remain an artist while we grow.'"

An art hive is a community art open studio that welcomes everyone as an artist. It's a free activity, art materials are provided, and all Memorial students, faculty and staff are welcome! All you have to do is pop by!

Ms. Boachie, a first-year PhD student from Ghana, is passionate about art and looks forward to seeing you next week.

When you pop by, you'll have a chance to admire the exhibition she helped curate with Dr. McLeod. Diversity and Innovation hangs in the main foyer and by the second floor elevator not far away from the rest of the exhibit and features artists from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
