Brave new workplace: Toward a model of productive, healthy and safe work: A presentation for business leaders

Location: Emera Innovation Exchange, Signal Hill Campus

Tue, 06 Jun 2023 16:00:00 NDT - Tue, 06 Jun 2023 17:30:00 NDT

Join us for a public lecture with Dr. Julian Barling, Distinguished University Professor and Borden Chair of Leadership at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations are faced with the challenge of re-imagining and welcoming new ways of working. Synthesizing almost a century of research, Dr. Barling identifies seven interrelated elements that are key to building productive, healthy and safe workplaces: high quality leadership, autonomy, belonging, fairness, growth, meaning and safety. Two core premises underlying the model are that we should focus on creating environments in which employees can flourish, rather than relying on the resilience of workers to withstand difficult working conditions, and that small changes make a big difference in the long term. Co-hosted with Gardiner Centre.
