Michael Kennedy, B.Comm.(Co-op.)'01
Michael Kennedy, BComm, CPA, CGA
Born and raised in St. John’s, Michael completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) degree at Memorial University in 2001. While completing this degree, Michael took advantage of the University’s exchange program and studied for a semester at the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.
Since 2002, Michael has been the Corporate Controller of Ocean Choice International (OCI), one of the largest vertically integrated seafood companies in Canada. Contributing to the growth of a global sustainability leader in an industry so important to Newfoundland and Labrador is a rewarding experience. Michael completed his Certified General Accounting designation in 2006, and served on the Association’s board from 2010 to 2015. This included numerous committee roles, and a one year term as Chair of CGA NL in 2014. Michael was also a member of the CPA NL Steering Committee that oversaw the merger of the three accounting bodies in this province. After the merger, Michael sat on the first Board of CPA NL. Currently, Michael is serving as a parent representative on the School Council of St. Peter’s Primary School, Mount Pearl. Michael feels strongly that his volunteer board and committee experience, along with his financial background and education would help him provide a meaningful contribution to the Board of Regents. Michael resides in Mount Pearl with his wife Jennifer and their two sons.
