Fume hood exhaust system shutdown
Kelly Foss

The Chemistry-Physics Building fume hood exhaust system will be shut down from 6  p.m. Friday, March 18 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 20.  The purpose of this shutdown is to allow for upgrades to the organic chemistry undergraduate laboratory ventilation/exhaust systems. It will enable the contractor to modify the existing fume hood exhaust system as required to make room for new equipment to serve the organic chemistry undergraduate labs.

All fume hoods will be inoperable during the shutdown and must not be used for the duration. All measures must be taken to prevent gasses from entering the ventilation system at this time (e.g., sealing open containers and terminating experiments that produce gasses) for the duration of the shut down and sashes on fume hoods must be closed.  In addition, the following equipment/systems will be inoperable for a period of approximately one month (exact duration to be confirmed) following the shutdown and must not be used during that time:

* C-5009 – FH- 3 & 4
* C-5007 – FH- 5
* C-4032 – FH- 3
* C-4032A – FH- 2
* C-4030 – FH- 2 & 3
* C-3044 – FH- 1
* C-3046 – Bench top Exhaust System
* C-1028– Fume Hood & General Exhaust
