The Faculty of Science has released the third issue of Prescience magazine. This publication recaps highlights of key news and features about faculty, staff and students from the past year.
In this issue, readers will hear more about the recently released strategic plan for the Faculty of Science - outlining where the academic unit is hoping to go in the future, and what it believes it needs to do to get there.
As well, announcements of provincial and federal government and industry support for the Faculty's work, as outlined in this issue, recognizes the important role it plays in the development of key areas of interest in Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly in the province's world-class industrial natural resources projects in petroleum development, mineral development and mineral processing.
The magazine also shares the Faculty's discoveries in health, and stories of exploration.
"The Faculty of Science engages in these areas not only because they raise questions for which we hope to find the answers. But because those answers will improve the lives of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to which Memorial University has pledged a special obligation," said Dr. Mark Abrahams, Dean of Science.
