On Dec. 6, Dr. Patrick Parfrey, University Research Professor at Memorial University and director of the Patient Research Centre at the Health Care Corporation in St. John's, will receive the Kidney Foundation of Canada's 2002 Medal for Research Excellence. This award will be presented during a reception honouring Dr. Parfrey on Friday, Dec. 6, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Royal Trust Atrium, Faculty of Business Administration Building, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Morrisey Road, St. John's.
This prestigious award is presented each year by the Kidney Foundation to a Canadian investigator for outstanding Research in the area of kidney disease and related conditions. Described by peers as "phenomenally productive," Dr. Parfrey has been investigating the causes, risk factors and treatment of kidney disease for more than two decades.
