|SUBJECT:||Chinese lantern workshop opportunity for "grown-up" kids create a light-hearted Mother's Day gift|
|DATE:||May 5, 2004|
Looking for a gift that will light up your Mother's Day... and evenings?
This Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Division of Lifelong Learning is sponsoring a Chinese garden lantern workshop for adults, with St. John's visual artist Mykila Martin.
The three-hour workshop will give the "grown-up" kids out there a chance to craft a one-of-a-kind present their mothers can enjoy all summer long.
Of course, participants don't have to have their mothers in mind when building a lantern. They're welcome to make the lantern for themselves.
"The lanterns are fun to make and they give off a warm, relaxing light that is perfect for summer evenings on anyone's deck," Ms. Martin says.
Cost of the workshop includes the materials for one lantern.
