The Dr. A. M. House Literacy Lecture continues on Tuesday, March 30, with a lecture by Dr. Patrick O'Flaherty, professor emeritus (English) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. The title of Dr. O'Flaherty's lecture is Towards an Understanding of our "Illiterate" Ancestors: A Rejoinder and Reflection.
The fifth and final lecture in this series will be given at 7 p.m. in room E-5004 in the Education Building, located on Memorial's St. John's campus. A reception will follow in room E-5005. Media agencies are invited to send representatives.
The Honorable Dr. A.M. House Lecture on Literacy was created through a generous donation by Dr. A. Maxwell House who, at the time, was the province's Lieutenant-Governor. The series was inaugurated in 1999 and aims to promote literacy and awareness of literacy issues in this province.
