SUBJECT: Harvey lecturer is leading environmental scholar

Noted feminist researcher Dr. Carolyn Merchant is the latest Henrietta Harvey distinguished lecturer at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Merchant is the Chancellorís Professor of Environmental History, Philosophy and Ethics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Merchant will deliver a public lecture during her visit to Memorialís St. Johnís campus. The Henrietta Harvey Lecture will take place on Thursday, March 25, and is titled Reinventing Eden: The Fate of Nature in Western Culture. It takes place in room AA-1043, Arts Annex, at 7:30 pm. A reception will follow in the atrium. All are welcome to attend. Free parking in available in Lot 15 on the MUN campus and $2 coin-operated parking is available in Lot 15.

Dr. Merchant is one of the worldís leading environmental scholars. She helped create and develop the interdisciplinary and timely fields of environmental philosophy, ecofeminism, and environmental history.
