REF NO.: 142
|SUBJECT:||RNC investigating coyote head found on Memorials St. Johns campus|
|DATE:||March 16, 2012|
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is continuing to investigate the discovery of a coyote head on the steps of residence on Thursday evening.
A student discovered the head around 10 p.m. near Bowater House on the St. Johns campus and called Campus Enforcement and Patrol (CEP), which in turn contacted the RNC.
The head was concealed within a plastic bag and was accompanied by a note, the contents of which will not be released.
The RNC said there is no public safety concern in relation to the discovery.
The constabulary will continue to work with provincial wildlife officers and CEP in an attempt to determine who was responsible for the incident.
Officials with Memorials department of Housing, Food and Conference Services said this appears to be a prank gone awry and there are no concerns for student safety.
