Pastiche as Event: Theorizing Imitation in Recorded Popular Music is the topic of a lecture taking place tonight, Monday, Nov. 7. Dr. Chris Tonelli, visiting assistant professor at Memorial Universitys School of Music, will deliver the lecture.
This lecture is the second in the 2011-12 lecture series by the Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media and Place (MMaP).
Dr. Tonellis lecture will explore imitation in popular music and reasons we potentially need to think differently about it. He will not only explore the limitations of current thought on his topic, but will present his own framework for the study of musical imitation.
It is open to all, and will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the MMaP gallery on the second floor of the St. Johns Arts and Culture Centre.
