SUBJECT: Aboriginal youth to carry on culture and heritage through digital media

On Tuesday, Mar. 30, the Miawpukek First Nation and Memorial University’s Distance Education and Learning Technologies (DELT) will officially launch a project that will preserve and share knowledge of the Miawpukek people of Conne River, Newfoundland and Labrador, to ensure their culture and heritage can be carried on by its youth.
The two partners will showcase the digital tools created for the project, providing a virtual cultural connection for First Nation people nationally and internationally to engage in dialogue, build communities, and learn and preserve unique rituals and traditions. The event will also include a special performance by the St. Anne’s youth choir of Conne River.
What:            A presentation of innovative digital media created to preserve the culture and heritage of the Miawpukek people of Conne River, NL.
Location:      Hampton Hall, Fisheries and Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ridge Road Campus.
