SUBJECT: Details of Celebrate Memorial to be released on Oct. 8 at special event at R. Gushue Hall

To celebrate Memorial's significant community connections, the university will once again be hosting its annual festival of events called Celebrate Memorial. The celebrations will take place from Oct. 14-25, 2003.
Full details about this year's festivities will be released at a special breakfast event to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at 8 a.m. in the main dining hall in R. Gushue Hall on Memorial's St. John's campus. President Axel Meisen and Dr. Lilly Walker, dean of Student Affairs and Services and chair of Celebrate Memorial, will release the Celebrate Memorial schedule and the latest details about some of the events, including Memorial's community partners in the new Community Service Day and the personalities recruited for the Celebrity Basketball Challenge. A new, interactive news and events Web site of interest to reporters, news producers and the public will also be launched. Media agencies are encouraged to send representatives. Breakfast will be served!
A variety of events are planned for the busy two-week Celebrate Memorial schedule. With lectures, awards ceremonies, concerts and public events at both the St. John's and the Grenfell College campuses, the celebration is designed to appeal to a wide range of people and interests. Many of the events are open to members of the university community and to the public.
