Memorial University will pause and reflect during a solemn event next week on its St. John’s campus.
The annual Dec. 6 Vigil commemorates 1989’s horrific Montreal Massacre at l’École Polytechnique in Quebec .
This year’s service also coincides with the 17th anniversary of the establishment of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women by the federal government.
The vigil is organized annually by Memorial’s Sexual Harassment Office and the Department of Women’s Studies. It includes a candlelight procession, special readings and performances.
The vigil takes place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m., in the Engineering Building, room EN-2006.
Free parking will be available in all lots marked 16 or 16A.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
