Members of the general public are invited to tour the new home of the Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media and Place (MMaP) at Memorial University.
An open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 22, and Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 1-3 p.m. each day. It will include demonstrations of the MacEdward Leach and the Songs of Atlantic Canada website, world music videos, presentations by ethnomusicology graduate students and faculty at Memorial and Native American musical instrument displays.
There is no charge for these tours.
MMaP is located in the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre, Allandale Rd., in room 149 on the main floor, northeast corner, of the centre.
Parking for this event is available in the Arts and Culture Centre parking lot.
MMaP is affiliated with Memorial’s School of Music and the Department of Folklore. Its broad mandate includes supporting academic and community-based research focused on traditional music from this province.
