Note to editors:
Dr. Don McCabe, professor of management, Rutgers University, will deliver a public lecture titled Promoting Academic Integrity in a Community of Learners, on Thursday, May 8, from 10-11:30 a.m. in Room A-1043, Arts and Administration Building, located on Memorial's St. John's campus.
Students are talking more about the increasing pressures to do well academically. In a society where many students find it necessary to work to support their education and attend university on a part-time basis, these pressures lead some students to engage in academic dishonesty. Dr. McCabe will discuss the implications of his current study of student integrity in Canadian and U.S. universities - who cheats, how often, why and, most importantly, strategies that may help an academic community to improve the environment of academic integrity on its campus.
