The director of Memorial University’s School of Music will offer a unique glimpse into the Moravian Inuit community of Hebron, Labrador, and its musical legacy next week at a free public lecture.
            Dr. Tom Gordon will deliver a talk entitled Holy Week in Hebron, Labrador 1859on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m., in the Research Centre for Music Media and Place (MMaP) Gallery on the second floor of the Arts and Culture Centre.       
            The highlight of the presentation will be six of the anthems from Holy Week in Hebron in 1859 performed by a choir and small orchestra from the School of Music under the direction of Amy Henderson.
            Dr. Gordon is a well-known pianist and musicologist whose research interests stretch from the musical in 19th-century Newfoundland and Labrador including that of Moravian choral and instrumental music along coastal Labrador to early 20th-century music in France.
            Admission is free and all are welcome. Parking is available in the Arts and Culture Parking Lot.
