SUBJECT: Grenfell - Visiting writer and performer Robert Priest at The Barroom (Jennifer's) on Broadway

The English program at Grenfell is pleased to announce that Canadian writer Robert Priest will perform from his work on Monday, Oct. 15, 8:30 p.m., at The Barroom, 48 Broadway.
Robert Priest is a poet, playwright, songwriter and novelist. He was instrumental in the early days of the Spoken Word Revolution in Canada during the 1980s. Also known as Dr Poetry on CBC's Wordbeat, he has performed his mix of poems and songs all over the world. In recent years, Priest has entertained at numerous music and poetry festivals. He was a featured performer at the Kacat Kabaret in Budapest and at the Free the Word Festival in Stockholm, Sweden. He has also delivered the word at the Melbourne Writers' Festival, The Acorn Festival in P. E. I., the Mariposa Folk Festival, the Couchiching Think Tank and various literary festivals throughout Canada. In October of 2001, Robert was chosen to be a cultural ambassador for Canada in the Middle East where he performed in both Israel and Jordan. In 2006, he performed all over Australia and on his return released a new book, How to Swallow a Pig (ECW Press, 2007), at the International Festival of Authors in Toronto. Robert lives in Toronto.
