SUBJECT: MUN/MUNFA talks set to resume

DATE: August 22, 2007

Negotiators from Memorial University and the union that represents faculty at the university will be meeting to resume negotiations on Friday, Aug. 24. The conciliator has called the parties back to the bargaining table.
“We are going to the table with the intention to reach a new collective agreement with MUNFA (Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association), and we are prepared to work hard to reach that goal,” said Karen Hollett, Memorial’s director of Faculty Relations. “Reaching a deal in a timely fashion is in everyone’s best interests, and foremost in our minds are the students.
“We sincerely hope that the union will come back to the table prepared to negotiate and will demonstrate flexibility in their salary demands” she said.
