Information For New Residents
As a new resident you are going to quickly learn that living on the campus is very different than living at home, or living next to the campus. So here is some information that will help you transition to life in your family home, to life in your home-away-from-home.
The Residence Life Office
First, more than anything else, we strongly encourage you to speak to your Residence Life staff, or the staff of Housing, Food and Conference Service, whenever you have questions. Learning to ask questions is a really important part of being a student.
Your @mun.ca Email
Once you are accepted to Memorial University, you will be given a @mun.ca email address. We will be sending important information to your @mun.ca address. So you should get into the habit of checking it regularly.
Your Accommodations Agreement
In the middle of the summer, we will be sending you instructions on how to accept your Accommodations Agreement (i.e. your lease). You will be required to accept this agreement before you can check in to residence in September. You should read it before you accept it.
The Accommodations Office
The Accommodations Office manages applications, room assignments, cancellations, financial charges, mail delivery, etc. You should contact firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have questions about your accommodations or room assignment.
We provide all the furniture you need, but you will want to bring some stuff with you. Here’s a list of what you will want to bring to residence with you.
Parking On Campus
**Please note that acceptance to Residence does not automatically include a parking space**
If you are bringing a personal vehicle, and want to park on campus, you will need to get a Parking Permit from Campus Enforcement and Patrol. Please click these links for complete parking policy information. We will provide a letter to confirm that you are living in residence. This letter will be available from Tuesday, September 2, 2014 until Friday, September 5, 2014 in the residence general office. Please provide registration, proof of insurance, and your Campus Card (Student ID).
Check-In day for all new residents is Sunday, August 31, 2014, starting at 9:00am. Mark it in your calendar, and we will meet you at the door!
