Information For New Residents
Applications for the Fall & Winter 2017/2018 will open at 9:00 am Newfoundland time on October 15, 2016.
As a new resident you are going to quickly learn that living on the campus is very different than living at home, or living next to the campus. So here is some information that will help you transition to life in your family home, to life in your home-away-from-home.
The Residence Life Office
First, more than anything else, we strongly encourage you to speak to your Residence Life staff, or the staff of Student Residences, whenever you have questions. Learning to ask questions is a really important part of being a student.
Your @mun.ca Email
Once you are accepted to Memorial University, you will be given a @mun.ca email address. We will be sending important information to your @mun.ca address. So you should get into the habit of checking it regularly.
Your Accommodations Agreement
In the middle of the summer, we will be sending you instructions on how to accept your Accommodations Agreement (i.e. your lease). You will be required to accept this agreement before you can check in to residence in September. You should read it before you accept it.
The Accommodations Office
The Accommodations Office manages applications, room assignments, cancellations, financial charges, mail delivery, etc. You should contact email@example.com, if you have questions about your accommodations or room assignment.
** Please note that application for January 2017 and acceptance into Paton College, Macpherson College, or Burtons Pond DOES NOT automatically guarantee you a bed space for either facility in September 2017. All students must apply separately and specifically for Fall 2017.**
We provide all the furniture you need, but you will want to bring some stuff with you. Here’s a list of what you will want to bring to residence with you.
Parking On Campus
**Please note that acceptance to Student Residences: Paton College, Macpherson Hall, or Burtons Pond, does not automatically include a parking space**
Please be advised that information regarding parking availability, process, and instructions has been emailed directly to each student living in Student Residences. Note that parking space is very restricted on the St. John’s campus. Check-In day for all new residents is Wednesday, January 4, 2017, starting at 9:00am. Mark it in your calendar, and we will meet you at the door!
