Welcome to the Department of German and Russian
The Department of German and Russian and the Department of French and Spanish are preparing to combine into a single administrative unit to be known as the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. No changes to programming are planned – French, German, Russian, and Spanish programs and courses all continue as before. The proposal to combine is pending final approval by Senate and the Board of Regents, anticipated in July 2016. Any students with questions about this administrative change should contact Dr. John O. Buffinga at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ms. Beverly Evans-Hong at email@example.com.
In German and Russian, we do more than just teach you a language.
We offer undergraduate programmes and courses in German literature, culture and language, German for business and commerce, and Russian literature, language and culture.
We also offer excellent opportunities to sharpen your language skills and experience their cultures first hand with programmes delivered in Heidelberg, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod.
The knowledge of two or three languages is vital in today's global environment.
Training in German and Russian helps prepare students for careers in international business, the foreign service, the publishing industry, as translators, and in international law to name just a few.
