Mindfulness & Meditation - UC 2001 Monday - Friday

Come join us for a peaceful hour and go back to your work or schoolday feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Mon - Fri 12:00 p.m - 1:00 p.m. UC - 2001. *Location may be changing soon. FREE and open to everyone! (Students, faculty, staff, general public).

 "Trojan Trolley Tuesdays"-UC 3rd floor-Tuesdays

10am-2pm

Protect yourself and your partner by buying some condoms every Tuesday from 10-2 on the third floor of the UC. Get 8 condoms for $2; an assortment of colors and styles available. Remember: "No Glove...No Love!"

Oasis/Therapy Dogs/Wellness Resource Kiosk-UC 3rd floor-Thursdays 10am-2pm

Need to de-stress? Come visit the Oasis and receive a free snack of popcorn, have a chat and pet or hug a therapy dog (Therapy dogs visit the last Thursday of each month). Visit the Wellness Resource Kiosk/Displays to get information on a variety of health topics, find resources for papers and assignments, and speak to peers!

 

Healthy Lifestyle Group for 8 weeks-Wednesdays 12noon-UC5002

Starting June 8th

Small changes = Big differences! Attend our Healthy Lifestyles Group and find out what works for you. Incorporating activity and healthy eating habits into your lifestyle has many positive health benefits. The Wellness Program is offering a free 8 week Healthy Lifestyles group to help you reach your health goals. Sessions run from June 8th until August 3rd and are held at the Counselling Centre UC 5002 in a comfortable and private setting. Pre-registration is required for LUNCH! Call 864-2659 for more information.

Mini Mental Health Fair

Got questions about mental health? Interested in the topic? Come visit our mini mental health fair on Thursday, May 19th. There will be lots of representatives from different organizations with informational booths to answer your questions! 11:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m.

 

Wellness Walk in Honor of Mary Clarke

May 27th

Come show your support for those who suffer from mental health issues and join us on May 27th for our annual walk around Long pond in honor of Mary Clarke, long-time employee of MUN. We will meet at the splash facility (behind the business building) at 12:00 p.m. In the case of bad weather, the walk will be held at the field house track.

 

Get Answers @ MEMORIAL MEETUP

Failing? Academic problems? Just can't get it together? If so, we can provide you with the people and programs to help you out. Memorial meetup brings together many of Memorial’s departments, faculties and schools aiming to provide undergraduate students convenient and timely access to campus resources that support undergraduate students.

 

Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshops: Improving Health: My Way-TBD 2016

Starting June 1st 

This is a Chronic Disease Self-Management Program for individuals with chronic disease (including mental health), their family members, and caregivers. The program is based on the assumption that individuals with chronic disease share similar symptoms and daily challenges associated with their disease. The free workshops are offered 2 ½ hours once a week for 6 weeks-Wesnesday afternoons 1:00-3:30pm at the University Counselling Centre-UC5002, and each session covers different topics related to better self-management. The goal of the workshop is to give people the skills to better self-manage and to take control of their health.


 

Terry Fox Run-COMPLETED-Thanks to all those who participated this year!

In 1980, Terry Fox ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. The Terry Fox Run keeps his hope alive that one day a cure for all cancers will be found. Registration for the event will begin on Thursday, September 24th, at 11:30am in front of the University Centre clock tower. The run will be held from 12:00-2:00pm. Come out, support the cause, and join us for a barbecue afterwards!
