Orientation is a high-energy event that takes place each year before the start of fall semester. It gives new students and opportunity to meet other new students, to get familiar with life at Memorial and the programs and services available to them.

MUNdays & I fell for Grenfell

Every fall, Memorial University celebrates the diverse accomplishments and amazing spirit and atmosphere of this great university. The annual event is chock-full of fun times – ready to invigorate, stimulate and inspire the Memorial community. MUNdays roll out under the banner of I love MUNdays on the St. John’s campus, and I Fell for Grenfell on the Grenfell Campus.

Brandon Hillier
Brandon Hillier is in his second year of studies at Grenfell and plans to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. Brandon is originally from Pasadena, NL and moved into residence on-campus this year and is loving it so far! This year, Brandon started working with the Student Recruitment Office as a Student Social Media Ambassador. Brandon has been tweeting and posting photos to Instagram from events around campus, including move-in day, Orientation 2012, and the Grenfell Brand Launch Party.

Important dates to remember

January 15, 2013 - Application deadline for the School of Music
March 1, 2013 - Application deadline for General Admission & for several schools & faculties. Check deadlines website for a full list.
March 31, 2013 - Application deadline for Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts). 



New First Year Success Program at St. John's Campus

The First Year Success (FYS) is a new program launched on the St. John’s campus this fall. FYS is a full first year experience designed to ease the transition from high school to university and enable a successful start to post-secondary studies. Check out for more information.

New physics major at Grenfell Campus

Students can now complete a four-year physics program at Grenfell. Throughout the degree, students will study everything from the traditional fields of electricity, magnetism and quantum mechanics to astrophysics, cosmology, geophysics, and sub-atomic and particle physics. A minor in physics is also available. Grenfell is the ideal place to study physics, with the recent installation of the largest astronomical telescope in Atlantic Canada at the Grenfell Campus observatory. The research-quality instrument has now been installed in the observatory dome atop the new academic building extension, and will be used by students in upcoming physics courses.

New residence set to open for September 2013

Construction of the new residences on the St. John’s campus and Grenfell Campus is well underway! The doors are expected to open in time for fall 2013. On the Grenfell Campus, each suite of the 200-bed residence will comprise of two private bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a small entry way. The residence will also feature communal food preparation areas and laundry facilities. On the St. John’s campus, the west tower of the residence will be completed for the fall of 2013. The east tower will be completed at a later date. Each tower contains 250 beds for a total of 500 beds.
