Trek in Gros Morne National Park

International students at Grenfell Campus took a short bus ride to Gros Morne National Park (A UNESCO world heritage site), where they saw first-hand the spectacular scenery. They hiked into Western Brook Pond, visited local stores and restaurants and some students tried their first moose dinner and ate every last bite! The students also made a stop at Memorial’s Bonne Bay Marine Station.

SPOTLIGHT ON…

Juan Alvarez

New to Memorial this fall, Juan Alvarez is pursuing the business administration program on the St. John’s campus. He says in the beginning it was challenging transitioning to a new country and a new chapter in his life.

“The welcoming community and atmosphere in St. John’s made it easy for me to adapt to my new life here at Memorial. The university community and the people living in St. John’s are friendly and accommodating. I am very happy with my decision to pursue my studies at Memorial University.”

Crystal Rolle

Crystal Rolle joined the Grenfell community this September and plans to complete a bachelor of arts in Environmental Studies. Crystal moved here from the Bahamas where she had been working as a paramedic and EMS instructor.

“My experience here so far has been excellent. I have had a smooth transition and everybody here is very hospitable and generous - all the time - even to strangers! The friendliness of the student recruitment officer I met, along with the good reputation of the environmental programs at Grenfell, was what drew me here. After my first degree, I hope to continue with my Master’s degree in Environmental Policy here at Grenfell.”
