Newfoundland and Labrador offers an excellent quality of life, including one of the lowest crime rates in North America.
At Memorial, we make your safety a top priority.
Our friendly campus security team patrols the campus 24 hours a day and officers are always available by phone...just dial 4100 from any campus phone (or 864-4100 from your cell phone) to reach them in an emergency.
The WalkSafe and SafeDrive programs offered by MUNSU, our students’ union, help make the campus a safe place to study, work and live.
And, when you're walking around campus keep an eye out for the Emergency phones. Located above ground and below ground in our tunnel system, when activated these phones will connect you direct with campus security. The location of the emergency phones above ground are clearly marked on any recent campus map.

The student health centre, located in the University Centre, is staffed by doctors and nurses whose primary directive is dealing with student health issues. Make sure to check out their website for a further information about the services they offer.
In case of an emergency, you'll be relieved to know that the province's largest hospital is also located on the St. John's campus. The Health Sciences Centre not only keeps you healthy, but it's a full scale teaching hospital. Our Faculty of Medicine, School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy are all part of the Centre.
To keep yourself healthy, check out the programs on self-care and healthy lifestyles, offered to students by the Student Wellness Program.
