Rechargeable Battery Recycling
MUN now recycles rechargeable batteries
Rechargeable batteries can now be returned for recycling to the Sustainability Office. The batteries currently being accepted are Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn) and Small Sealed Lead (SSLA/Pb) weighing up to 11 lbs. or 5 kg. each.
Batteries will be sent to the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC®) where reusable materials such as nickel, iron, cadmium, lead and cobalt will be reclaimed.
To arrange a time to drop off your rechargeable batteries or for more information, contact sustain@mun.ca or 864-3047.
PLEASE NOTE:
Rechargeable batteries can be delivered to the Sustainability Office at any time during the year for recycling. For all other battery types, tape the terminals (both ends) and store in a safe place like in a yogurt or ice cream container until the next free battery collection event. Watch this website for the date of the next Memorial Battery Blitz Day.
