As part of Memorial University's Orientation activities, the Faculty of Science is hosting Everything Science 2014. At this event, incoming students will discover exciting opportunities to pursue science at MUN. They will get acquainted with the nine science departments during our faculty expo, meet existing science students from our clubs and societies, and complete science-based challenges during our cross-campus photo scavenger hunt. The School of Graduate Studies, the Division of Student Affairs and Services, and the Graduate Students' Union invite you to the annual Graduate Orientation Welcome Event, for all new graduate students at Memorial University (those students admitted to graduate programs for the current year, from Winter to Fall semesters).

The Welcome Event will include; a greeting from Dr. Gary Kachanoski, President of Memorial University, a keynote address from the Dean of Graduate Studies, information sessions, booth presentations, free food and giveaways!

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK

The School of Social Work is pleased to welcome 60 new students to the BSW program on September 2nd, 2014. Students are asked to arrive at 8:30 am at EN 2040, where they will be welcomed by senior students, faculty and staff. A Class photo will be taken, students are asked to bring their photo permission form.

This event fosters the opportunity to interact with classmates, faculty, and staff and receive essential information about the BSW program and student services. The event also features a panel of students, MUNSU, NLASW, staff and faculty speaking about the program and the profession. As part of the festivities, students will join with the Dean, faculty, and staff and senior students for a luncheon. Students will also participate in faculty-led academic discussion groups, and an experiential learning activity that introduces the second part of the welcome event that is scheduled for Saturday September 13th, 2014. This mandatory part two of the Welcome Event is a Service-Learning initiative that enables students to interact with the community and experience specific social work core values outside of classroom instruction. The Service-Learning experience will be joining with Suicide Survivors in the 2nd Annual Walk for Suicide Prevention and to Remember Those Who Died by Suicide. After the walk and dialogue with survivors, students will meet in faculty-led groups to reflect on their experience.
