What to do Before Orientation

Although you have yet to arrive on campus, there are lots of things you can do before arriving, as well as some things you can do on campus before Orientation! The following is a list of ideas!

Engage with us on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: Throughout the summer we’ll be posting lots of fun photos and information about Memorial on these websites! We’ll be able to show you what we’re up to, as well as provide you with information about campus life. Also, we’ll be posting fun contests to give you a chance to win some free MUN swag! You can visit us on www.facebook.com/MUNOrientation2013, @MUNOrientation, or www.instagram.com/MUNOrientation!

Beach Restoration Event: Let's head to the beach!! On August 31st, from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm, meet other first year students and discover what lies in the heart and soul of Newfoundland – the beautiful ocean front! Students will work together in small teams to help restore one of our beaches (about 30 minutes outside St. John’s), get to know one another and learn about the importance of our magnificent coastline. For more information about this event, or to register, please visit http://www.mun.ca/student/orientation/index2.php.

Order your campus card: Before coming to Memorial –get your campus card! If you’re not in St. John’s during the summer, you can make a campus card request and we can have it waiting for you by the time you get here! You can get all the details at the campus card webpage. If you are in St. John’s this summer, you can pop by the Answers office (located at UC 3005) and we can print you a campus card on the spot - remember to bring your government issued photo ID!

Set up your wireless: Before Orientation, you can connect to Memorial's wireless network on your laptop or smartphone! For a step-by-step guide on how to set up wireless, visit Computer & Communications webpage.

Buy a locker: After you've stopped by to get your campus card printed, you can buy a locker for 3 consecutive semesters! This can also be done at Answers (UC 3005). Make sure you know your student number!

Pay your fees: After you’ve registered for your classes this semester, you can pay your fees! This can be done online by using a credit card, through your bank, or in person at the Cashier’s Office. The Cashier’s Office is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 4:20 pm. For more information please visit the Cashier’s Office website.

Receive a campus tour: If you’ll be around St. John’s during the summer, you can receive a campus tour BEFORE Orientation starts. The office of Student Recruitment provides tours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to help you get to know campus better. To fill out a tour request form, check out http://www.mun.ca/undergrad/getting_here/tour/. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to campus before Orientation – we’ll also be providing campus tours on both days of Orientation!

Come meet the Orientation team!: Drop by Answers, located at UC 3005, to visit Tessa Whelan and Jennifer Crowe, the Orientation Coordinators for Fall Orientation 2013! We’ll be in the office every day from 9:00 am – 4:15 pm and would love the chance to meet you!

Get a tour of the University Centre (UC): During your visit to the Answers office, Tessa and Jen would be happy to show you all that the UC has to offer! This would include taking you up to the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors to see the various services the UC has to offer! To request a UC tour you can email the Orientation Coordinators at orientation@mun.ca.
