NLASW Student Representative – Liaison Board Position

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers (NLASW) Student Representative is a board liaison position with the NLASW.  This position was created to increase student participation and understanding of the role of NLASW and to enhance connections between the NLASW and the students at Memorial University School of Social Work. 

The NLASW Student Representative is selected by the Association of Social Work Students for a two year term.  The role of the student representative includes:

  • Helping to raise awareness of the NLASW among the student body
  • Facilitating communication between the NLASW and undergraduate students
  • Assisting with the development of the NLASW Electronic Student Update
  • Participating in NLASW committees and engaging in other meetings as appropriate (e.g., Promotion of the Profession Committee)
  • Organizing an event for the student body to promote social work during National Social Work Month
  • Coordinating the election of the incoming student representative position in the fall semester of year 2 of the position
