Scholars at the School of Social Work conduct research on a wide variety of topics that are in alignment with Memorial University’s Strategic Research Themes. Our interdisciplinary research is enriched by a multitude of community partnerships and engagement activities, and addresses the needs and aspirations of academic researchers, as well as the greater community with whom we collaborate.
The research interests of faculty members within the School of Social Work include youth/child welfare, self-care/spirituality, disability, social work education, gerontology, veteran affairs, resettlement, mental health, harm reduction and addictions, immigration, ethnic minorities, social identity and social change. Our diverse research strengths span the full spectrum of the Strategic Research Themes, but can be encompassed under the theme of Social Justice - Research related to systems and structures that contribute to more humane, equitable and just societies.
