Part-Time Opportunity in Social Enterprise

Seeking senior students from the Faculty of Business Administration, Department of Computer Science, School of Social Work and Humanities and Social Science

Organization: guide to the good

To make it easier for busy, socially aware and environmentally-inclined people to choose local and green for their purchasing and lifestyle choices, thegreenrock.ca - Live Sustainably NL developed the social enterprise guide to the good - www.guidetothegood.ca. It's an initiative designed to help the planet, our communities, and our individual lives as it strengthens the local economy.

The guide to the good online is a practical tool that helps people make choices they feel good about. Its searchable mobile-friendly interface features local companies (businesses, organizations and social enterprises) and stories that support and strengthen physical and mental health, build connections among communities, and empower people with a sense of place. The pilot phase focuses on the Northeast Avalon, with a vision for guide to the good hubs in major centres throughout the province and beyond.

Job Descriptions
guide to the good is multi-faceted as an online and outreach project that connects people with their local communities and is primarily content-driven, so we need people who are interested in helping develop content and connections. It is also a business with all the ins and outs of business operations - admin, finance, sales. The skills would be content-development skills (profile interviews, articles, writing, photography), digital know-how (SEO optimization and social media), and business (bookkeeping, systems development, database work). The disciplines could be social work, business, communications or others if the student has an interest and will.
