Have a question about bugs? Wonder about attitudes and phobias towards bugs, what impacts bugs can have on health or beneficial uses of insects? Have a household pest you can't identify or an issue with bugs in your neighbourhood?
The Department of Biology's Bug Promoters can help.
A bug promoter is someone who seeks to inform the community about and change the public's relationship with insects. Generally, people as a whole consider bugs to be disgusting or slimy creepy-crawlies whose sole purpose in life is to annoy or irritate. Bug promoters attempt to advance the positive or beneficial ways the insect community impact the world.
These biology students participate in service learning activities that provide the community with knowledgeable information about bugs and human-bug relationships with the hope that the general public can appreciate the positive ways insects shape our lives.
