Below is the upcoming schedule for CREAIT's scanning electron microscope and Mineral Liberation Analyzer™, which can be browsed for reserving sessions on the instrument. Because almost every application is unique and difficult to evaluate with respect to the time required, you are asked to fill out a project application form which submits your request to the SEM's Research Coordinator, Michael Shaffer. However, if yours is an established or ongoing project, you may simply request a SEM session by submitting this SEM session request form.
The capabilities of this SEM are outlined in the descriptions provided by the topics on the left. However, please note that because of this SEM's unique capabilities that are beyond typical imaging, all projects are either limited to these capabilities or are related to ongoing collaborative projects within MAF-IIC.
Applications in SEM-platformed image analysis, or MLA: Be informed that Mineral Liberation Analysis generally requires that you reserve 2 contiguous sessions -- the first for configuring the automated data acquisition, and while your sample is still in place, a second session for acquiring x-ray related reference spectra. Therefore, when applying for MLA related sessions please reserve contiguous afternoon and morning sessions.
For anticipating costs, all sessions are minimally 3 hours and our rate schedule is available here. If you are a returning user and your request is associated with an already established project, you can simply click here. However, if you are a new user or if you are beginning a new project, you are required to submit your request via the application form.
