How to Begin
The Office of Research Services and/or the Office of Collaborations and Partnerships is to be engaged with the academic unit at the proposal development stage. ORS/OCP can provide support and advice as the proposal is being developed.
Other considerations to be determined during the proposal development stage include:
- Appropriate type of agreement
- Intellectual property
- Publication rights
- Student involvement
- Any applicable clearances (eg., Research Ethics Board approval, Animal Care clearance)
- Resource requirements (eg., space requirements, specialized equipment)
- Indirect costs recovery/overhead
ORS/OCP will review and submit the final proposal to the sponsor. These offices are also responsible for reviewing and negotiating the terms of research contracts and agreements and will provide institutional signature once review and approval by the research and the relevant academic unit(s) is also obtained.
