How to Begin
Research Grant and Contract Services (RGCS) is to be engaged with the academic unit at the proposal development stage. Staff in RGCS can provide support and advice as the proposal is being developed.
Other considerations to be determined during the proposal development stage include:
- Appropriate type of agreement
- Intellectual property
- Publication rights
- Student involvement
- Any applicable clearances (eg., Research Ethics Board approval, Animal Care clearance)
- Resource requirements (eg., space requirements, specialized equipment)
- Indirect costs recovery/overhead
RGCS will review and submit the final proposal to the sponsor. This office is also responsible for reviewing and negotiating the terms of research contracts and agreements and will provide institutional signature once review and approval by the research and the relevant academic unit(s) is also obtained.
