Blueprint For Discovery

In the past five years, Memorial University has achieved impressive growth in research. This has been achieved by recruiting and retaining exceptional researchers, acquiring leading-edge facilities and equipment and fostering major research partnerships. Major advances in research, especially in the physical and life sciences, take place when investigators from different and often disparate disciplines form research teams. To further encourage collaboration, Memorial University has plans to develop a new Sciences Research Building (SRB) on its St. Johnís campus. The SRB will become the major hub for interdisciplinary research in cellular and molecular sciences at the University. This unique institutional research facility will not be attached to one faculty or school rather, it will bring together leading researchers from areas such as Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Basic Medical Sciences and Pharmacy. It will contain flexible laboratory spaces, specialized facilities and infrastructure for core equipment that meet the needs of advanced, laboratory-based scientific research.
