Joanne Curry

Joanne Curry – Vice President, External Relations, Simon Fraser University

Joanne was recently appointed as SFU's Vice-President External Relations and member of the University's senior leadership team, Joanne plays a strategic role in engaging with stakeholders and raising the profile of the University. She is accountable for community relations, government relations, communications and marketing and the management of the Vancouver and Surrey campuses, the SFU Art Galleries and cultural programming.
Her past positions have included a range of responsibilities which have connected the university with government and the broader community as SFU Surrey Executive Director, Director of the SFU University-industry Liaison Office, and Executive Director of the national TeleLearning Network of Centres of Excellence. Prior to joining SFU, Joanne held roles in banking, biotechnology, and consulting. She is currently a member of several boards including Community Living BC, the Burnaby Board of Trade, and the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association.

Joanne holds a Doctorate of Business, Bath University, UK; an MBA from Simon Fraser University; and a B.Comm. (Honors) with Distinction from the University of Manitoba.

Prior to joining SFU, Joanne held roles in banking, biotechnology, and consulting. She is currently a member of several boards including Community Living BC, the Burnaby Board of Trade, and the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association. Joanne holds a Doctorate of Business, Bath University, UK; a Masters of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University; and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) with Distinction from the University of Manitoba.
