To define the authority and outline the guidelines and procedures to be followed concerning the flying of flags on University property.


To include but not be limited to the Canadian flag, the flag of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Union Jack, the flag of Memorial University of Newfoundland, the flag of the Marine Institute, and the flags of various charitable organizations.


The University observes declared national and/or provincial periods of mourning as well as the deaths of members of the University community by flying all flags at half-mast during these periods.

Flags on the campuses of Memorial University of Newfoundland are flown in conformity with the federal and provincial guidelines on precedence.
