Fulbright Canada, a member of the prestigious worldwide Fulbright family, offers a wide range of programs that support Canadian students and scholars who wish to study, conduct research, or lecture in the United States.

The United States are home to more of the highest ranked academic institutions and research institutes than any other country in the world. The academic community consists of many of the best and brightest minds from around the world, including all of the international Fulbright students and scholars. For students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, the United States offer an unparalleled diversity of programs and residential experiences at academic institutions of the highest calibre that provide easily transferable course credits. For scholars, the United States offer world-class research facilities and networks, along with unique opportunities to do comparative work and develop collaborative relationships within North America.

All Fulbright Canada grantees become part of a well-organized, highly integrated program. In addition to the cash award, Fulbright Canada provides basic health insurance and a range of administrative services. Additional benefits include an opportunity to attend a regional orientation program with Fulbrighters from around the world, an opportunity to apply for mobility funding for in-country professional development, and the opportunity to apply for our Eco-Leadership Program ($2,000-$4,000) and Community Leadership Program (up to $8,000). Finally, award recipients join the prestigious Fulbright family, representing a program that has celebrated academic excellence and achievement, as well as community service and leadership, for more than sixty years. The networking and reputational value of Fulbright cannot be underestimated.

Please note that faculty sabbatical, leave-of-absence, or retirement pay may be used concurrently with Fulbright support. Attached is the Fulbright Canada Newsletter. Page 7 has an overview of the program including the opening and closing dates for each competition.

Materials for our graduate student and scholar programs will be available in May, and materials for our undergraduate program early in August. Fulbright Program Officers will be available to take questions or provide additional materials whenever you require assistance. The ongoing Fulbright Specialists Program provides funding for Canadian universities to host US scholars for two to six weeks to lecture and work with colleagues.

Fulbright Canada's website ( offers comprehensive information about all of our programs, as well as direct contact information for the officer responsible for each program. Our program for undergraduate students, the Killam Fellowships Program, can be found at
