From the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachians, from Northern Ontario to Kentucky and everywhere in between, this concert will lead the listener through the diverse and beautiful fiddle landscapes of the New World. Featuring Crooked Stovepipe (NL), Ivan and Vivian Hicks (NB), Alan Jabbour and Ken Perlman (US), Pierre Schryer and Andy Hillhouse (ON/BC) Mike Stevens and Raymond McLain (ON/US) and Brenda Stubbert and Janine Randall (NS).
CELTIC CROSSINGS
The cultural influence of the Celts is pervasive throughout the world. The Celts live on in the musical traditions of PEI, Scotland, Ireland, Newfoundland, Northumbira, Australia and Northwest Spain, all of which will be showcased in this incredible evening of music. Featuring Paul Anderson (SCOT), Bulla Timpanica (SP), Matt Cranitch and Seamus Creagh (IRE), The Dardanelles (NL), Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas (SCOT), Nancy Kerr and James Fagan (ENG) and Ward Allan MacDonald and Richard Wood (PEI).
CROSSING CULTURES
The fiddle in its present form has been around for centuries and has embedded itself into many countries and musical styles. Tonight's concert explores the role of the fiddle in African American, French Canadian, Klezmer, Celtic, Danish, and Newfoundland and Labradorian musical traditions. Featuring A Crowd of Bold Sharemen (NL), Eric Favreau and Paul Marchand (QC), Folk of Labrador (NL), Haaguard and Høirup (DEN), Anne Lederman and Tom Leighton (ON), Kelly Russell (NL), Lesa Terry (US).
