Once again, the MUN School of Music will be bringing together grade 8-12 musicians from across Newfoundland and Labrador for a motivating weekend of musical fun. Not only will we make music together, we also will collaborate with guest conductor Dr. Darrin Oehlerking from the University of Saskatchewan. In addition, we will watch the MUN Wind Ensemble as well as the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, featuring guest narrator, Gordon Pinsent.
Interested? The process will be the same as last year. Students wanting to play in the Honour Band simply have to be nominated by their band director and/or private instructor and make sure we have an email address for making contact. Students wanting to audition for the High School Wind Ensemble need to look below for the details. Email me at email@example.com if you have any questions.
In addition to the MUN High School Honour Band, we are very excited to announce the 2nd annual MUN High School Wind Ensemble. Created as a way for the most advanced high school musicians in the Province to work together in a more intense setting, this auditioned ensemble will use instrumentation similar to the famous Eastman Wind Ensemble:
What does this all mean? Basically, instead of having one large band, we are now going to have two. You will only play in one.
How do I audition for the Wind Ensemble? Download the audition form here and follow the instructions.
What if I am not selected for the Wind Ensemble? You are automatically invited to play in the Honour Band. Will I still get the same opportunities if I play in Honour Band instead of Wind Ensemble? Absolutely! Everyone who attends get masterclasses with MUN faculty, sectionals, full band, pizza, and more.
