From: MUNPA Board Subject: Opportunity for individual membership of Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Union Retirees

Date: March 18, 2019

Dear Member:

MUNPA has received a communication from the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour, passed on from MUNFA, suggesting affiliation with the NL Federation of Union Retirees, and through it, to the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada (CURC). While our Association itself will not affiliate because we also represent non-union retirees, the Union Retirees Federation also makes available individual memberships. The letter states in part:

“Membership in CURC is open to retiree organizations of CLC-affiliated unions and individual retirees and their spouses....

Article IV, Section 5 sets out new fees for individual memberships as follows:

1 Year - Individual Membership $25

1 Year - Individual and Partner $35

2 Year - Individual Membership $35

2 Year - Individual and Partner $45

3 Year - Individual Membership $50

3 Year - Individual and Partner $80

CURC offers a comprehensive and affordable Benefit Plan for Union Retirees, through Canadian Benefits Consulting Group with Green Shield Canada. Guaranteed acceptance with no medical questions when you apply. Individuals can build their own plan to suit their needs. The plan includes prescription drug coverage, dental care, Life Insurance and much more.

For more information, or to affiliate, please see http://unionretiree.ca/ or contact Marie St. Aubin at mstaubin14@gmail.com.”

We therefore wish to inform our members of this opportunity to take out an individual membership of CURC for retired union members, should they so desire. Relevant contact information is given in the quotation above.
