The Memorial University of Newfoundland Pensioners' Association (MUNPA) is a non-profit organization that represents the interests of all retired faculty, staff, and their survivors (widows, orphans, and widowers).
We are the oldest university pensioners' association in Atlantic Canada, having been founded in 1985 by the late Dr. Alastair Riach.
In the course of providing services to our members, MUNPA maintains various liaisons with the following MUN committees and associations:
|Committee / Association||Relationship|
|MUN Pensions Committee||A member of MUNPA's Board of Directors sits on the University’s Pension Committee to represent the interests of our members.|
|Memorial University Faculty Association||A member of MUNPA's Board of Directors liaises with MUNFA.|
MUNPA also maintains relationships / memberships with other groups and organizations, both within the university, and external to Memorial. They are described below:
|Group / Organization||Relationship / Membership|
|Campus Food Bank||MUNPA is proud to support the Campus Food Bank. We encourage members to bring non-perishable food items to several of our functions and take part in their various Food Drive. As a retiree, you may also arrange to donate through payroll deduction - the form and directions are available on their website.|
|College and University Retirees Associations of Canada||MUNPA is a member of CURAC, which gives our members access to their services and benefits.|
|Academics Without Borders||As Memorial is a centre of higher education and many of our members are academics, there is considerable interest by some of our members in the activities of AWB, if not a direct relationship through MUNPA.|
