L.E.A.P. 2012 will be taking place October 28th & 29th

What is L.E.A.P?

Memorial's Leadership Education and Preparation or L.E.A.P! program is a two-day event whereby Level III students from across Newfoundland and Labrador have the opportunity to attend an over-night leadership conference at Memorial's St. John's Campus. L.E.A.P. is filled with fun, interactive and engaging activities that contribute to students overall leadership capacity and prepare them for their journey into post-secondary life. Students experience first-hand life at Memorial through attending classes pertaining to their personal interests, getting familiar with campus and being immersed in Memorial's culture during one of the most eventful times of the year.

Volunteer!

Volunteers are valued and essential members of the L.E.A.P. 2012 team. Without you, we would be incapable to deliver such high quality programs to Memorial students and the students of Newfoundland and Labrador.

As a volunteer for L.E.A.P. 2012, you will be a mentor to over 100 Level III (Grade 12) students; showing them around campus, attending leadership sessions, allowing them the opportunity to experience life at Memorial first-hand. Volunteers will also accompany high school students to Memorial classes on Day 2 of L.E.A.P., supervise L.E.A.P. participants, assist with activities and provide students with a positive experience at Memorial.

This position does not involve an over-night portion.

Volunteer training will be October 16th, 17th and 18th from 5pm-6:30pm.

Volunteers are only required to attend ONE training session.

L.E.A.P. 2012 Assistant Coordinators (LACs)

LAC's assist the L.E.A.P. 2012 coordinators in planning and preparing events. LAC's organize and ensure activities, sessions, and other pieces of the program run smoothly.

LAC's are also responsible for the over-night supervision of L.E.A.P. participants. Those who decide to adopt the LAC role are also required to attend 3 training sessions:

  • Tuesday, October 9th: 5pm-7pm
  • October 16th, 17th or 18th 5pm-6:30pm (General Volunteer Training; LACs are required to attend ONE volunteer training session)
  • Tuesday, October 23rd: 5pm-7pm

L.E.A.P. 2012 will run from 8am Sunday, October 28th to 4pm, Monday, October 29th.
