What is the HORIZONS Program?

The HORIZONS Leadership Program was developed to encourage and foster the development of leadership skills and abilities among youth within Newfoundland and Labrador. This program is funded through a partnership between Memorial University and two outside donors. Without the generous contributions of these donors this program would not be possible.

Mission of the HORIZONS Program:

The mission of the Memorial University HORIZONS Program is to facilitate the educational experience of exceptional students from across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Students are selected based on outstanding leadership qualities and a strong academic standing. The selected students then have the opportunity to participate in leadership events and programs throughout their high school years (grade 9, level I, II, and III).

Components of the HORIZONS Program:

1. Grade 9 - Application Process --- Guidance Counsellors: Check this out!

2. Level I - Leadership Development Weekend

3. Level II – Leadership in Action

4. Level III - L.E.A.P. (Leadership Education And Preparation)
