Chungnam National University (CNU) is one of ten Flagship Korean National Universities. It is recognized as one of the most prestigious five national universities in Korea.

Geographically situated in the central region of the Korean peninsula, CNU enjoys the best possible environment for excellence in research and education thanks to the presence of high caliber organizations such as the Daedeok R&D Special District, the Multifunctional Administrative City, the Daejeon Government Complex, and the Headquarters of the Korean Armed Forces. In addition, as Daejeon is located in the heart of the Korean Peninsula, it forms a major transportation cross roads to service both North-South commuters and East-West ones. 

Highlighted program(s)
Faculty of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Humanities are currently dominating the university in terms of number professors and associate-professors.

The College of Engineering, which boasts the longest history and the largest number of departments is one of the representative colleges of Chungnam National University. With a location adjacent to Daedeok Science Town, the birthplace of science and technology in Korea, CNU is able to maintain a close relationship with the research centers within the Science Town.

Language of instruction
As part of application process, applicants are asked to provide an optional TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) score. However, those students who wish to engage in the long-term dual-degree exchange programs are required to have obtained said certification of level three or higher.

Important dates
The application deadline for exchange programs is as follows:

  • May first for Fall admission
  • Decemeber first for Spring admission

Living costs
A tuition waiver is provided as per the exchange agreement at the bare minimum. Based on the exchange agreement, other financial support such as room and board may be provided.
